{Data Stream 17} - When Anger Shows

[so, someone guessed right and is currently standing over Ganymede's body, the tip of her staff pressed into the mangled flesh of the captain's former face. she's completely nonchalant about this, by the by, and more angry that she didn't get to kill him than that he's dead and at her feet and she's poking him with a stick none-too-gently]

The captain was to be mine. For harming the Doctor, he was mine to destroy.

[looks away from her sphere, down into the engineering section and toward where she thinks Orion went. he is so not on her happy list, let me tell you :|]

It would seem, however, we have more to concern ourselves with than the captain's untimely death, if those monitors are at all correct.

Then we shall not discuss them.

[bit_impossible]

[eyes her then sighs] We need another way of catching him that won't harm the others. I refuse to see anyone else hurt.

[hisoldgirl]

[sets her jaw, then shrugs and looks away] Very well. Perhaps an anti-gravity well near the Level 3 entrance? We should be able to cannibalise the ship to make one.

[bit_impossible]

[he nods, tilting his head slightly as he thinks about that and running through a mental inventory of things he's seen in the shops that they could use if taking apart the ship won't work.] Yes, I suppose that could work. But let's see how far down we can get first.

[hisoldgirl]

Of course, Doctor. [reaches out, taking his hand, and leads him along the hallways]

[bit_impossible]

[the walk back seems a little longer to him--only because he was running the first time instead of being led out--but he makes sure to manoeuvre himself in between her and the keypad controls in case it has a spare bolt left over for her.]

[pays little attention to the controls at all, really, intent on getting to Level 3 and saving the Doctor]

[well, he's glad all the same that nothing happens and continues to let her lead him towards the lifts. he doesn't even look over to where K-9 rests; can't bear to.]

[hisoldgirl]

[she does notice and pauses a moment to check, confused as to what happened, though it's obvious the Doctor is intent on making it to the lift and so she follows reluctantly, glancing over her shoulder toward K-9, frowning]

[bit_impossible]

[sees her movement out of the corner of his eye and opens his mouth to say something, but doesn't.]

[hisoldgirl]

[which is fine, because she's fine just staying silent as she follows]

[bit_impossible]

[so he doesn't say a thing, not down either of the lifts, not until he's in the hallway leading towards the maintenance hub.]

He didn't deserve that. It doesn't matter whether he was a simulation or not.

[hisoldgirl]

[she isn't really sure what to say and so simply nods] Had I found the answer first, you would have been spared it.

[bit_impossible]

Would I? Sure, I might've been spared the wound on my hand, but K-9'd still would've frozen in place.

[hisoldgirl]

Perhaps. We can never know what would have happened in this place, though, can we?

[bit_impossible]

No, we can't. [laughs to himself] You'd think I'd know not to grow so attached to them. All this time and I still do.

[hisoldgirl]

You cannot help it, Doctor. It is simply how you are, frustrating though it is.

[bit_impossible]

For the both of us, I suppose, since you're the only who's still there for me.

[hisoldgirl]

I will always be there for you, Doctor.

[bit_impossible]

[smiles] I know.

[reaches the transportation pad and is raising his hand to scan his barcode when he remembers that oh right, it got burnt off.] If you'll do the honours...

[hisoldgirl]

[nods and uses her own barcode, obviously frustrated that she has to, but no matter, she leads him onto the pad and away from the area]

[bit_impossible]

[looks around the area where they've turned up, frowning.] Somehow, I don't think we're on Level Three, old girl.

[hisoldgirl]

So it would seem. [glances around her curiously, touching the walls] Where are we, then?

[bit_impossible]

I would suspect we've gone as far as we can... [walks around in the opposite direction.] You know, I'd say we're in level twelve. Like if we go through this door here, we should--[opens it and nods]--yep, just what I thought. Down that way is the library.

[hisoldgirl]

How frustrating. This is not where I want to be.
