[so! there's this really cool forest on the ship now, and it's full of really cool little creatures and stuff. awesome.

too bad the TARDIS doesn't care.

she's actually more interested in the forest itself than its inhabitants and has found herself a quiet, secluded area in which to sit. the place reminds her of her own forests from which she is currently cut off, and so she's simply enjoying the solitude, leaning against a tree and staring up beyond the canopy at the night sky. beside her lies a staff she found on her way over, though she pays it, and her garments, very little mind. if one approaches her, they'll be surprised to hear soft music coming from somewhere among the trees]

Lovers who do not meet, then...? What is Ganymede playing at now?

[look, it's another black mage! in dark robes and a rather traditional black mage hat with a wide brim and flimsy top] What do you think it might mean, TARDIS?

[ It's a white mage! To counteract all the, uh, blackness. ]

I'd be interested in hearing as well.

[looks up at both men curiously, then goes back to the stars] I have been scanning my databanks for relevant information in regards to separated lovers. Based on the knowledge of both Ganymede and Orion being human, I have relegated my search to Earth literature, as I doubt the riddle would involve the Great Beasts of Niknasten. As such, I am wondering if perhaps it deals with stories of the sun and moon.

Have you any idea?

The sun and moon... That's an interesting idea! I was just guessing it might be a play on words somehow. Like...space kinda fits, but not exactly.

The sun in moon in Earth Mythology? If I get back, I can review the library. Likely, at least.

[tilts her head] How did you come to the conclusion of space? Many of the clues previous have dealt with celestial bodies and not the vacuum itself.

I will accompany you if you desire. I have not seen this ship's library as of yet. I am interested in ascertaining its size.

[scratches his head] Well, I was just thinking about what you get when lovers never touch--which is sort of a different kind of space from what we see in the sky that's both light and dark, but they are both space. And no one can actually look at a void, right? I mean, not really.

[Donna found a wand on her first trip into the forest and decided to keep ahold of it in case it came in handy. She's now wearing a light green garment which looks somewhere between a dress and a robe and a small diamond tiara.]

It sounds like a riddle. Why would he give us a riddle to figure out?

Ganymede is particularly fond of such things I have found. [looks up at Donna and nods] You are familiar with stories of separated lovers, perhaps?

[smiles ruefully] Hardly. I never used to be that much of a great reader, not before I met the Doctor, anyway. [well, unless trashy paperback novels count, but she guesses that they probably don't.]

He tends not to travel with many intellectuals, unfortunately. You seem clever enough, though.

[smiles properly now] Thanks, but I'm not that brilliant. Good enough to travel with him though, apparently.

He has travelled with many. I am certain you are a great deal wiser and more tolerable than they.

Well, that's a huge compliment, especially when it's coming from you.

Why?

Well, you're the TARDIS! I mean, you must have seen hundreds of us traveling with you and him.

Unfortunately, yes.

Oh, come on. We're not all that bad, are we?

[smiles] No, not all. The vast majority, but he has chosen some whom I have also adored. [gives Donna a look] Perhaps you will be so to me someday, as well.

Well, I hope so! It would be a bit depressing if I wasn't!

[laughs] It is far preferable for me to like you, certainly.

[laughs as well] I think so!

As far as I can tell, this is the "challenge" we're supposed to enjoy.

...where are you? I don't think I've come across that place while exploring?

It is certainly a better challenge than some we have had to endure in this place.

It is a ways off from the lift, between the point where two archer statues once stood. I cannot give you exact coordinates, but it is possible to get here by following the main path and the leftmost branch when it forks into threes.

I would have to agree with you. It's...nice, in its own way.

I think I may visit it. I'm looking for where the captain left part of his suit as well.

I enjoy riddles, so yes, it is somewhat pleasant.

I was attempting to inspect the same when I found this area. It reminds me of my forests and so I stopped. Should you require assistance hunting Ganymede, however, I am available.

What are your thoughts on the riddle so far?

I'll let you know if we find any leads. But this area is too vast to really search with any kind of effectiveness. I hate to say it, but we may have to wait for him to show himself again.

I believe it involves celestial bodies of some sort. I am considering the sun and moon of old Earth mythology, though there are certainly many more that are available. All the riddles and games played so far have somehow involved space, at least where Orion is concerned. Have you a different idea?

So long as he shows himself where I can reach him.

I think you might be on the right track. If he's anything like the commander, maybe that's what he's referring to.

Just leave him alive, alright? He's more use to use that way rather than dead.

I had thought perhaps the sun and moon, since Earth literature deals especially with the separated lovers. There is also the possibility of certain stars, but Orion seemed more interested in those than Ganymede.

[frowns] If I must. Alive does not necessitate fully functioning in a physical capacity, however.
